A Better World Running App

Introduction

A Better World Running ("we," "us," or "our") operates the A Better World Running mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

We've kept this short on purpose. The App does very little with personal data, and we want you to understand exactly what happens.

What We Collect

Information you provide directly

Email address — only if you choose to sign in. We use it to send you a one-time login code (no passwords).
Profile information — only the fields you choose to fill in: name, date of birth, gender, shirt size, city/state, emergency contact, and any medical notes you wish to share with race organizers.
Race results — when you participate in an A Better World Running race, your timing data (place, finish time, distance, age group, gender) becomes part of the public race results. This data is collected at the race itself, not by the App.

Information collected automatically

The App does not collect:

Location data
Device identifiers for advertising
Usage analytics or behavioral tracking
Contact lists or photos

The App does not include any third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

How We Use Your Information

Email is used solely for authentication (sending login codes).
Profile information is shown only to you within your account; it is not displayed publicly.
Race results are publicly viewable in the App and on our website, as is standard for race results. They include first name, last name, finish time, age, gender, and bib number.

Who We Share Information With

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.

We share information only with:

Supabase, our backend database provider, which stores your data securely. Their privacy policy is at supabase.com/privacy.
Apple, only as part of standard app distribution and authentication flows.

We do not share your data with advertisers, marketers, or analytics companies.

Data Retention

Account data: kept until you ask us to delete it.
Race results: kept indefinitely as part of the public race history archive.
Login codes: expire automatically within minutes.

Your Rights and Choices

You can:

View and edit your profile within the App at any time.
Delete your account by emailing us at the address below. Note: race result entries (place, time, finishing data) will remain in the public archive, but your associated profile data will be removed.
Not sign in at all — most of the App's content (events, results, individual race lookups) is fully accessible without signing in.

Children's Privacy

The App is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information without parental consent, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Security

We protect your data using industry-standard practices:

All connections to our servers use HTTPS encryption.
Database access is controlled with row-level security policies.
Login codes are time-limited and one-time-use.

No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated within the App.
